Locating printers and Folders with Network Explorer

This tutorial will explain how you can install network printer in Windows 7 on your system. The steps below are required in printer installation

Step 1
Click Devices and Printers from the Start menu.
Note: You can also access the device and printer option from Start-> Control Panel->Hardware & Sound-> Devices & Printers

Step 2
Press Add a Printer option as shown in figure below.

Step 3
Printer installation wizard will start. Add Printer screen will appear. Now you can add a network, wireless or blue tooth printer according to your requirement.

Step4
List of printers will appear on the screen, Press Next button.

Note: If no list appears on the screen, press “Stop” button & then click “The printer that I want isn’t listed”, a screen will appear as shown below. You can add printer name from the desired network in Printer field. Naming convention should be

\\[host]\[Printer Name] e.g. \\VSS\Panasonic DP 8020P

: [Host] is the name of the printer’s host computer

: [Printer Name] is the name of the shared printer

Step 5
Selected printer name in Step 3 will appear in Printer name field. You can also change the printer name, if required. Now press Next button, the next screen will take some time in installation but be patient.

Step 6
After Installation, the next wizard window with options will appear, whether you want to make it a shared printer or not. There are optional blanks fields; you can select / add information to fields according to your need. Press Next button.

Step 7
Finally, here comes the last stage of installation, the printer is installed on your system. But few optional selection can also be made i.e., Set as the default printer option. You can use this option by checking or un-checking it & press Finish button.

Note

•    Set up multiple default printers’ option is used if you having multiple networks and each network have different printers. You can attach different default printer from each network

•    Print a test page button will print the test page to check the functioning of installed printer.

•    Cancel button in each step will abort the operation
