Enhance Features in Wireless Network

The following steps can be followed for adding a new wireless network to the Manage Wireless Networks window.

Step By Step

Step 1
From Start -> Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Network and Sharing Centre then click on “Manage wireless networks”

Step 2
Manage wireless networks will open new window showing the list of networks Click on Add button to insert new network connection in the existing list. A dialog box will appear inquiring “How do you want to add a network”?

Here starts the manually wireless connection wizard. You can now click on “Manually create a network profile” option as highlighted in above figure.

Step 3
Specify the Network name field, then to secure wireless network select Security Type from drop down list. Choose Encryption Type from the list. Enter the security key & press Next button.

Note:

1. Security Type drop down list  includes WEP, WPA Enterprise, WPA2 Enterprise, WPA Personal, WPA2 Personal, or 802.11x

• WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) is used for long time use but it’s less reliable

• WAP ((WiFi Protected Access) is used for security in wireless networks

2.Encryption Types includes AES & TKIP

• AES stands for Advanced Encryption Standard

• TKIP, a Temporary Key Integrity Protocol is a long used security protocol. For WPA2 Personal or WPA2 Enterprise as the Security Type TKIP is used as encryption.

Step 3
A window with adding network connection will appear which will take few minutes. After a while, message of successfully addition of new wireless connection will be shown.

Note: The window also contains an option of Change connection setting which will display the wireless networks properties. In Security tab, you can make desired change.
