Change the Network Name and Icon in Windows 7

This tutorial will help you to change network name & icon by following the steps below:

Step by Step

Step 1

Right click or double click on the Network icon in the system tray, and click Open Network & sharing Center option.

Alternate Method: From Start -> Control Panel -> Network & Internet option will open Networking & Sharing Center screen

Step 2

In Network & Sharing, double click Network icon as highlighted below.

Step 3

Set Network Properties window will appear.

Step 4

You can now change the Network Name by specifying the desired value in Network Name field –

You can also change the Network icon by pressing Change button. You can select an icon from the list below, or browse location for icon & press Ok button.

After applying appropriate settings, press OK button.

Screen-shot with changed Network name & icon will be seen.

    Great, now can you tell us how to change the one we care about? the one in the sys tray? not the one in a window I never see nor care anything about? The one I want to change is the one I actually have to look at all the time. funny how that works…
