Change Virtual Memory and Page File Size in Windows 7

Change in virtual memory size is needed when memory low warning message is prompted. If such messages are received, increase in minimum & maximum sizes of your paging file is required. To increase/decrease the virtual memory or Page file on your Windows 7 follow the steps below:

Step by Step

Step 1
Click “Control panel ->System and Security” option

Click  “System” option in System & Security screen

Select  “System-> Advance system setting” option

Step 4
Select Advance tab in system property screen. In Performance section, press Settings button.

In Performance options -> Advanced tab, press Change button in the Virtual Memory section

Virtual Memory screen will appear. By default its automatically managed, you can uncheck the checkbox to manually change the virtual memory [page file size].

The disabled fields will be enabled. Now you can select the Custom Size option, and change the initial size(MB) & Maximum Size( MB)[Page Size]

Note: It is recommended to restart your PC after virtual memory change as decrease in page size need system restart for change effect.
