How to Set the Reset Account Lockout Counter After Setting in Window 7

The tutorial will help you to set account lockout counter for locked out user accounts in window 7

Method 1

Step 1

In Start, type Local Security Policy in search box & press enter.

Step 2

Local Security Policy editor will appear. In the left pane, expand Account Policies -> Account Lockout Policy. In right pan, select & click Account lockout duration. Set value from (0-99999)

NOTE: The reset account lockout counter after time should be less than or equal to the account lockout duration time.  Reset account counter will auto get value from lockout duration.

Step 3

The option determines the number of minutes that must elapse after a failed logon attempt before the failed logon attempt counter is reset to 0 bad logon attempts. The available range is 1 minute to 99,999 minutes.

NOTE: Message will be prompted if reset account lockout counter is greater than lockout duration.

Step 4

Press Ok & close the Local Security Policy editor.

Method 2

Step 1

Type cmd in Start search box and press enter.

Step 2

To See the Current “Lockout Observation” Setting .Type net accounts and press enter.

Step 3

In the command prompt, type the command net accounts/ lockoutwindow: 80 and press enter.

NOTE: Enter any number between 0 and 99999

Step 4

Close the command prompt.
