How to Manage Credential Manager – Add a Generic Credential in Windows 7

In windows 7 there is an option to Manage, Credential Manager to automatic logon, and Credential store in windows Vault. Generic credential in windows 7 used for managing the authorization and authentication of applications directly instead of delegating it to operating system.

Applications employ Credentials Management functions to prompt users for application-defined, generic, credential information, such as user name, certificate, smart card, or password. The information provided (User Name and Password) by the user is returned to the application for authentication.

Step by Step Configuration

Step-1

Firstly, Click on Start button and then in search program and file option type “Control Panel” without double cod and then press Enter.

After follow the first step the Control Panel appears, then Click on User Account.

In Control Panel -> All Control Panel Items -> User Accounts.Click on Manage your Credentials in right side of window.

Step-4

After clicking on Manage your credential, the Credential Manager window appears, now you click on Add a Generic Credential option.

Step- 5

In Add a Generic Credential, you need to define local user password and user name. If you store your credential locally so define local network address or you can also define internet website address for credentials. Then press OK.
